ABOUT THE BAND

The Jackson Liberty Lion Band was established in 2007, right after Jackson Liberty High School was built. We have approximately 50 students involved in the band program and multiple ensembles for these students to participate in.

The Marching Band is under the direction of Scott Katona. With 50 students in the band, it competes in group 2-open in the Tournament of Bands (TOB). The marching band has earned numerous awards and has been the subject of news articles throughout the years. The band has also performed at such major events as the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in New York City and the National Independence Day Parade in Washington DC. You can find more information about these awards and achievements by visiting the Marching Band, In Thew News and Awards pages.

The Jazz Ensemble is under the direction of Scott Katona. This ensemble rehearses twice each week and competes in numerous competitions throughout the months of February, March and April. This ensemble has also received countless awards throughout the years, including the achievement of a third place ranking out of all the competing high school Jazz Bands throughout the State of New Jersey. You can find more information about these awards and achievements by visiting the Jazz Band and Awards pages. The Liberty Jazz Ensemble also hosts an annual jazz festival at Jackson Liberty High School.

In addition to the traditional Concert Band, the Jackson Liberty Band consists also of the Woodwind Choir, Pit Orchestra, Percussion Ensemble and Tri-M Music Honor Society. You can also find links to these ensembles on this website.
