By libertylionband, February 5th, 2012, 3:05 pm Just a reminder that this Wednesday, we will be having our monthly band parents meeting in the high school chorus room beginning at 7:30pm sharp.
On February 14th at Town Hall, the Mayor is presenting the band with a Proclamation for being accepted and representing the State in the National Independence Day Parade. This will be the first item on the agenda and all the band students are encouraged to attend. The meeting begins at 7:30 and we will be able to leave shortly after that.
We have been lucky enough to get two more bagging dates at Stop and Shop. See message below. Please note that the February bagging is the same day as the musical. If you are involved with the musical you might want to sign-up for the March bagging instead.

NEW Stop and Shop BAGGING Dates!!! Saturday, February 25th and Sunday, March 25th.
Slots are now open!! Signup by emailing Suewojcik@optonline.net Note the date and time slot you would like and Sue will confirm if it is still open. Time Slots are: 10am – 12noon, 12-2pm, 2-4pm and 4-6pm.
If you are a Sophomore or Freshman and have NOT yet bagged this year, this is your opportunity to signup! Note that every student in the band and colorguard must bag at least ONCE during the year in order to fulfill one of the requirements of earning your varsity letter as a Sophomore!
**** Also note that Adult Chaperones for EACH time slot are needed! Please let us know if you can help by staying at Stop and Shop with your child to help chaperone!
Jazz Band will be meeting this Saturday at 3pm to depart for Princeton. There will be a clinic beginning at 5pm and Liberty’s performance time is 7:30!! Hope to see you all there!!
By libertylionband, February 4th, 2012, 9:36 am The Liberty Jazz Ensemble competed in the Shawnee jazz festival this past Friday and received a score of 91% out of 100%!! WOW, so early in the season and already breaking 90!! They were awarded a GOLD rating and also received awards for best rhythm section, best soloist award for Jim Weeden on the piano and best soloist award for Justin Richards on the drum set. Please come out and support the jazz band at their next performance taking place next Saturday at Princeton High School.

On Friday, the jazz band competed at the Nottingham jazz festival and took home awards for BEST OVERALL BAND……that means 1st place….. BEST TRUMPET SECTION, BEST RHYTHM SECTION, and OUTSTANDING SOLOIST AWARDS for JIM WEEDEN on piano, KEVIN DEMOURA on trombone, JUSTIN RICHARDS on drums, and JOSH GONZALEZ on trombone. On top of the outstanding soloist awards, JUSTIN RICHARDS also received and OUTSTANDING MUSICIAN AWARD! Excellent job and hopefully we will see more of you at the next competition at Shawnee High School next Friday, February 3rd. Performance time is 8:00.
By libertylionband, January 25th, 2012, 9:03 am Please remember that the Joe Corbi fundraiser must be picked up Thursday evening in the high school chorus room, between 5:30-7:30. These are FROZEN pizza’s and MUST be picked up that night. The band room does not have access to freezers so please make arrangements to pick them up.
Also, just a reminder that woodwind choir has been canceled for Wednesday and in its place will be pit orchestra from 4-5:30. High school students have a half day Wednesday and cannot stay through in the band room for any reason.
Just a reminder that jazz band practice will take place Thursday night from 6-8. Friday is the first competition at Nottingham High School. Students will meet at Liberty at 5:15. Performance time is 8:40. Hope to see you all there.

The next payment of $70 per person going on the Washington DC trip is due. We will gladly except the money at the meeting tonight. Checks can be made out to Jackson Liberty Band Parents Association
The Jazz Band Board of Education assessment of $25 is also due. Checks can be made out to Jackson BOE. Please also make sure that everyone in jazz band has ordered their uniforms. 1st competition is on January 27th.
Marching Band uniforms are also due back with their dry cleaning reciept and dry cleaning bag.
The Band Parents Association is selling this past years Marching Band music on CD. If anyone is interested you can pick one up tonight at the meeting. Also, Mr. Katona has posted the video of the show on line. Click here to view it. Please share!!
Lastly, we are looking for two families or businesses to sponsor a Best Overall Band trophy and Espirit De Corps trophy for our Jazz Festival in March. These trophies are around $80 each. Anyone interested or if there is any business interested please e mail Mr. Katona at sskatona@jacksonsd.org
By libertylionband, January 8th, 2012, 8:44 pm Couple of reminders: First, tomorrow, Monday January 9th, is the next Pit Orchestra rehearsal from 4-5:30.
Also, this upcoming Tuesday, January 10th, is the re-scheduled chorus and woodwind choir concert at 7pm. Students are to report at 6pm.
Wednesday, January 11th, is our monthly band parent meeting beginning at 7:30 sharp. Please make every effort to attend. Your support is much appreciated.
The next payment for the trip is due January 15th, $70 per person attending. You can bring payments to the band parent meeting.
The Board of Ed assessment for jazz band members is also due, $25 a student. Checks can be made out to Jackson BOE. Also, if you are a member of the jazz band and have not ordered your uniform yet, please do so ASAP!!!!! The first competition is less than 3 weeks away!!
Now for some more exciting news, the Liberty Lion Band has been accepted to march in the 2012 New York City St. Patricks Day Parade being televised by NBC on Saturday March 17th. We have already reserved coach bussing and rehearsals have begun. If you have not gotten your uniform dry-cleaned yet please do so. If you have, please bring them back to the band room with receipt and dry-cleaner bag.
By libertylionband, December 28th, 2011, 9:09 pm The Liberty Chorus/Woodwind Choir Concert date has been officially set for Tuesday, January 10th, 2012 at 7:00PM. All woodwind choir students should report to Liberty no later than 6:00PM to warm up and set up. We will not rehearse before the 10th. So, please arrive at Liberty on the 10th, no later than 6:00PM. Please spread the word. Thank you!

Everyone’s marching band uniform needs to be dry cleaned. There have been numorous uniforms returned cleaned already. If your child has not brought their uniform home, please please please encourage them to bring it home soon.
We also have the 2011 marching show, “Matador”, available on CD. If you are interested in purchasing a CD, there will be a sign-up list at the concert.
